Why aren't people more excited about the forthcoming return of DeNiro and Pacino in Righteous Kill? Well, probably because judging by the trailer it looks pretty formulaic: maverick policemen chasing a serial killer was a tired recipe even in the late 90s. Also, Pacino is approaching 70 and DeNiro is not far behind so they look too old to be detectives working the beat.
So why am I still kind of looking forward to it? Well, even on autopilot, these two old pros can be fun to watch. Also, it looks stylish enough and has a really good supporting cast, including the lovely and talented Carla Gugino and the eternally entertaining John Leguizamo (who memorably acted opposite Pacino in Carlito's Way).
But DeNiro and Pacino? There are so many things they could have done with these versatile veterans- cast them as rival thesps, gay lovers, crusading politicians, jaded movie stars, opposing military commanders...there are literally endless possibilities. But while it while it might be a missed opportunity, Righteous Kill will probably prove to be diverting enough. Or am I just being sentimental about the old guys? Speculation will end soon: I'll be reviewing it properly in the coming weeks.

You're just sentimental! My guess is they both have yachts to pay for, or maybe mistressess. Or maybe mistressess on yachts. Whatever, I'm not intrigued. That being said....I'm sure I'll see it.
Well, maybe I am sentimental. We'll see.
I hope that seafaring mistress is worth it!

While you're waiting for Rightous Kill, rent Heat or that cool French cop movie, 36. They should meet your brooding cops needs.
